Ghost Alien Model

Used the edge smooth paint tool to morph the shape of the head to resemble my alien.
Influence was for him to have once been a rogue delinquent, with his wild, wave like hair style. But became more down to earth once visiting another planet, its atmosphere being very euphoric and soothing. He adopted the ways of the planet, which made him less juvenile. I incorporated triangle markings symbolising the Illuminati to hint that his personality shift is strange and adding a purpose to why this personality change was not an accident may not be an accident. He is a made up of glowing, particles to create his translucent, ghost like appearance. Having the powers to travel though solids gives him the advantage to cause as much mischief as he likes and difficult to get caught. He also wears turtle like armour to symbolise that he can deal with hardship easily as it bounces right off him (not literally). His face paint is worn to represent his new approach to life.

Experimentation trying to create the dark glow effect.

Breakfast at Tiffany's; analysing Cinematography from the opening

Exploring the cinematography within the sequences opening, the first scene is set at dawn which is effective at connoting to the calm presence of the lead. Street-lights are on but the sky is getting light allowing the audience to assume it is morning. This works well because it emphasizes the films romantic atmosphere and films appeal with its use of lighting.

The establishment shot it also successful at creating this romanticised presence, because of its soft glowing hues and natural high key lighting creates a dream like atmosphere linking to the idealistic themes present in the sequence. The focal length is deep focus to highlight all the fine details within the shot for the audience to admire.

This scene is slow paced as the cab drives steadily into the scene, connecting back to the peaceful mood the sequence transits. The woman embodies this as she walks gracefully to Tiffany’s, this is shot from a low camera angle magnifying her importance which is emphasized as she appears much more gracious.

As she looks into the store her refection is caught from the window as she continues window browsing, this suggests that there is more to her character then how she presents herself so regally and creates a deeper meaning. As the camera angle is switched from a different perspective inside the store, high key lighting is again chosen to highlight this character’s beauty and suggesting she wants this to be noticed.

As the woman walks away from the shop the lighting is subdued till she turns a corner walking towards sunrise, this use in cinematography is effective in concluding the end of the opening sequence, as her early morning walk is over and day is just beginning connecting to the ideas that the film is just beginning.

Breakfast at Tiffany's; analysing Sound from the opening

Sound

Analysing the sound from the opening sequence, a sweet non diegetic melody is played. This works well at representing the characters pretty and innocent personality.
The start of the music begins very faintly fading into the scene along with the opening shot, it starts of slowly mimicking the yellow taxi entering the scene this is effective because it sets the slow paced tone of the opening sequence. Some mystery is created from the slow and faint music played as little is shown in the scene the music guides the audience slowly revealing more along with it.

No diegetic noise is heard until the taxi drives of scene the audience hears the tyres against the road, the soft violin melody continues embodying the movement of the woman walking gracefully away from the camera. It’s pitch heightens as the woman stops and a close up is shown from her behind, its tempo is only just slightly quicker this is effective because again the music begins to show more of the character along with the scene, as she begins to walk of screen the music again fades establishing this mode in revealing the character to the audience through sound.

When the next close up is shown of the woman’s face a harmonious choir begins to sing emanating the sweet dream like essence of her character. The music then ripens as she walks away from the camera and then slowly pacing its self-back to its original tempo to set the mood for the upcoming films start.

The music ‘Moon River’ is an excellent song to open with as it transits well with how the character is introduced to the audience and playfully implying the characters sweet yet quirky personality. Its rhythm and temp also embodies the romantic atmosphere of the film.
